The Quiet Creative Hours

Continuing my thoughts on offline happiness, let's talk drawing with actual paper and pens.

For the past three weeks I have ended each day by sitting at my home office desk and drawing with pens, paper and pencils.

It has been fantastic! I forget all the problems of the day and those I have to deal with tomorrow and let my brain create.

Please understand that I am no undiscovered talent. It doesn’t matter. What matters is that my brain is being set free from the constraints of everyday life to settle down before I go to sleep.

It feels great to be doing something tactile with my hands. The feeling of the paper offering resistance as the pen glides across laying down ink is more satisfying than you might think in this touchscreen glass world we live in now.

My recommendation to everyone is find something that does not involve a screen (reading a paper based book is another favorite of mine at night) and make sure to spend time daily performing that action.

I sleep better, I think better, and I’m slowly getting my drawing skills back to how they used to be before machines took over my life.

Take back control of your senses and be creative at the same time.
